We went to an exhibit about what life was like for the Vikings in Ireland. This was what the chief lived in. It was, as our tour guide said, "The original Ikea".
The whole exhibit was very realistic. Not pictured: the sound effects.
The view of Dublin from St. Michael's Tower, which is connected to Christchurch Cathedral.
Urban Plunge peeps: look! A St. Vincent De Paul shelter!
St. Patrick's Cathedral
Oh, just a castle. An everyday occurrence here. Irish people think it's funny how excited Americans get about all the random castles.
The Guinness Brewery. It was HUGE.
This drawing was in the Kilmainham Gaol (Jail) museum. I thought it summed up the sentiments of the times in Ireland pretty well.
Graffiti in the jail. It reads, "Beware of the risen people, ye that have harried and held, ye that have bullied and bribed."
The courtyard where the leaders of the Easter Rising were executed.
A castle AND a rainbow?! Too good to be true.
The Wellington Monument. He invented Wellington Boots, and did some other more important things. You know, the Battle of Waterloo and all that jazz.
A very famous statue of Molly Malone. She is known to locals as "the tart with the cart".
-LOL to picture #2... That exists...
ReplyDelete-Stole the castle/rainbow picture. Naturally.
-I'm going to use the phrase "Tart with a cart" in random conversation now. For SURE.
I know, right? We were HIGHLY amused by the Viking exhibit.
