I was in London for 6 days, so it will take several posts to cover everything I saw. Below are the best pictures from my first day. I did a walking tour of some of the major sights, and then hung out in the National Gallery for awhile!
Big Ben
Westminster Abbey
The Houses of Parliament
The London Eye
Buckingham Palace
You can tell by the flag that the Queen was at home!
St. James' Park
Where Prince Charles lives.
The squirrel poked his head out of the hole, and then ran laps around the tree!
St. James' Palace, which was King Henry VIII's official residence. According to our tour guide, whenever a foreign dignitary visits, they officially stay here, but actually stay somewhere nice, like the Hilton. He added, "It's basically just a large, elaborate filing cabinet."
Since it's still an official Royal residence, members of the Queen's Guard get to stand outside!
Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square.
London in a nutshell.
Trafalgar Square.
The artist who made these lions had never seen a real lion, so he modeled his sculptures after a lion head from the Museum of Natural History and the body of his own Jack Russel Terriers.
The oddest Nativity Scene I've ever seen. It's all spread out, and Joseph is lounging like a creeper.
Nelson's ship, the HMS Victory.
The National Gallery.
